Telemedicine or telehealth has transformed the way healthcare is delivered. Telehealth is a meeting between you and your primary care professional on a video call. This lets your care provider ‘see’ you without either of you having to leave your respective locations.
A subset of telehealth is remote patient monitoring, which lets you send readings of your weight, blood pressure, blood glucose, etc, electronically to your care provider. This helps your care provider stay up to date with your progress.
Telemedicine is very useful when you’re unable to visit your IntraCare Health Center because:
- You have trouble walking or have other mobility issues
- There’s no one to drive you
- You don’t have a medical emergency and just need to speak to your care provider about a small matter
Convenient
If you live far from your primary care physician, live in a rural area, or are temporarily abroad, you don’t have to arrange for transportation to meet your doctor.
No Waiting Rooms
You can go about your daily activities and connect with your doctor at the scheduled time without having to waste an entire morning or afternoon sitting in a waiting room.
Repeated Recaps*
Recording your call lets you replay it as often as needed. This can help you understand your doctor’s instructions better and recall anything you may have forgotten.

Frequently asked questions
No. Telemedicine visits are covered under Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans, so there is no additional cost to you.
Your doctor will need to hear and see you, so you should have a smartphone, or tablet, or laptop computer, or desktop computer fitted with a camera, microphone, and speakers. You will also need an internet connection.
No, your doctor will get them automatically. Your remote patient monitoring (RPM) devices are linked to your doctor’s office over Wi-Fi or cellular networks. Every time you check your blood pressure or blood glucose, the device sends the data directly to your doctor’s health records system.
No, you do not have to buy anything. Your doctor or care provider will give you the RPM device(s), and will also show you how to use it.
Yes, absolutely. A telehealth meeting between you and your doctor is no different from a visit to the clinic. Any information shared with your doctor, as well as RPM readings sent automatically, is confidential and protected by privacy laws.
